North Carolina Ranked Best State for Business in 2025

According to CNBC’s latest annual rankings, North Carolina is officially the best state in the country to do business. For those of us building in the Triangle and Chatham County, it’s no surprise.
This marks the sixth year in a row North Carolina has ranked in the top three. In 2025, it moved back into first place, with high scores in workforce quality, overall economy, and business friendliness. Companies continue to cite affordability, strong talent pipelines, and supportive infrastructure as key reasons for investing in the state.
From aerospace and biotech to advanced manufacturing and clean energy, North Carolina is attracting major job-creating projects—including JetZero’s $4.72 billion Greensboro facility and Jabil Inc.’s expansion in Rowan County.
With a growing population, low unemployment, and strong support from local community colleges and economic programs, the momentum is real and still picking up.
